Filtration

CERTIFIED HEPA FILTRATION THAT MEETS STRICT MILITARY STANDARDS

1.) Certified HEPA filter  2.) Two-stage motor filter 3.) "Miracle" washable cloth bag 4.) Disposable "Stormy Bag"

The Patriot's standard pre-motor filtration (not including the optional post-motor HEPA filter) has been tested according to ASTM 1215-89 protocol to achieve 89.9% filtration efficiency @ 1.0 micron @ 100 CFM. This amazing pre-motor filtration allows the motor and electronics of the Patriot to stay immaculate by filtering out all the damaging particles that could enter the motor and electronics.

The Patriot's incredible standard pre-motor filtration also allows the optional HEPA filter  to have a 3-year life expectancy since the HEPA filter (99.97% Efficiency @ 0.3 micron @ 100 CFM) only has to catch the microscopic particles and will not be clogged and have its air-flow reduced by large debris like conventional vacuum cleaners.

newmedikairephoto.jpg (22613 bytes)      The MEDIK-AIRE™ hypo-allergenic filter attachment consists of over 1000 square inches of Certified High Alpha HEPA. This state of the art HEPA filter is rated at 100 CFM and uses the latest technology to provide the best possible filtration without reducing air-flow and the over all cleaning ability.
HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filters are the highest efficiency filter available for filtration of small particles. Defined by the Institute of Environmental Science, a Certified High Alpha filter must capture a minimum of 99.97% of contaminants at 0.3 micron in size.
The first HEPA filters were developed in the 1940's by the Atomic Energy  Commission to full-fill atop-secret need for an efficient, effective way to filter radioactive contaminants. They were needed as part of the Manhattan Project, which was the development of the atomic bomb. HEPA filter technology was declassified after World War 2 and allowed for commercial use.
HEPA filters have been traditionally used in hospital operating and isolation rooms, pharmaceutical and computer chip manufacturing, and other application requiring "absolute" filtration. Today HEPA filters are used in a wide variety of critical filtration application in the nuclear, electronic, aerospace, pharmaceutical and medical fields, and in equipment for asbestos abatement. HEPA filters are highly recommended for allergy sufferers.

  The Truth about HEPA revealed!!

When a HEPA filter is properly tested and certified it will have a certification label on the filter that will indicate what CFM (cubic feet per minute) the filter can achieve HEPA filtration (99.97% @ 0.3 micron). Many HEPA filters that are used on conventional household vacuum cleaners have no certification so there is no way to guarantee if the filter can achieve true HEPA filtration.

Many HEPA filters found on conventional household vacuum cleaners are too small and restrictive for their intended application. Many of these HEPA filters that are used on conventional vacuum cleaners can severely reduce the air flow and may cause the vacuum cleaner to lose most of its power.

Many ordinary vacuum cleaners were never designed to handle the restrictions that an improperly designed HEPA filter can cause. Air leaks that are caused by an increase in back pressure can force large amounts of dust to bypass the filter and escape back into the air.
